Greve has a lot in store for the activity-seeking tourist:
Eight kilometres of white sandy beaches, exciting harbours with an atmosphere of their own, a world famous local museum, the largest swimming baths in Scandinavia, a much visited culture and music house, impressive green recreational areas, charming villages and excellent shopping facilities. An extensive white sandy beach stretches over eight kilometres from Hundige Harbour, very popular among yachtsmen, past the charming fishing harbour of Mosede to the Mosede Fort area which was an important part of Copenhagen's fortifications 100 years ago.
Tourists will find accommodation along Gammel Køge Landevej at Hundige Strand Camping Site and at Karlslunde Strand Seminar and Holiday Centre, and a number of good restaurants and other eating places will be pleased to appease your hunger in that vicinity.
International entertainment and charming old villages
Should the weather be less suitable for outdoor swimming, pay a visit to newly renovated
Greve Svømmehal, one of the largest swimming baths in Scandinavia (closed for rebuilding in 2010, details on request). And
Portalen Culture House stages plenty of Danish and international entertainment, events ranging from rock and jazz to musicals and theatre performances.
Behind the municipality’s residential areas of single family homes, you will find charming old villages in Greve, Karlslunde, Kildebrønde and Tune. In addition, the local museum,
Greve Museum, accommodated in a beautiful old 19th century farmhouse, features the old Hedebo culture and its world famous Hedebo needlework.
A host of exciting outdoor activities await nature lovers
Pay a visit to impressive Hedeland, formerly clay and gravel pits, but in recent decades it has been converted into a recreational area - to be enjoyed by the locals as well as tourists. A steam railway, several riding centres, a motorsport track, lakes and streams for canoeing, an 18-hole golf course and an amphi theatre seating 4,000 people are available today, and then we should not forget to mention the vineyard and the ski jump hill, rather un-Danish features.
To all of the above we would like to add some of the region's best shopping facilities,
Waves topping the list of shopping centres with 135 shops and restaurants and 3.200 free parking spaces - and to enhance your visit - fast communications linking Greve to Copenhagen by public transport and motorway.
