Market days in Køge Torv with sale of meat, fish and vegetables have existed for 700 years.

Køge market square with its 9940 sq. metr. is the largest in the provinces - and has occupied the sae site since medieval times. Right up to the last century the "kagen", a post to which delinquents were tied to public ridicule, stood on the square. Today things are more pleasants. The statue on the square depicts King Frederik VII.

Today, the Market Square is a MECCA of fresh fruit and vegetables - cheese, fish, sausages, olives, honey etc. On sale are also flowers, crafts, jewellery and other attractive items.
