Powerful emotions, beautiful countryside, dramatic stories – a journey in the footsteps of Hans Christian Andersen has some of it all.
|
The writer knew his Denmark, and was a frequent visitor to many places throughout the whole country. A number of the places Andersen loved so much have been selected as fairy tale tracks. Here he found the inspiration which has given us so many memorable stories. In 1836 Hans Christian Andersen stayed at the hotel "Norske Løve" in Nørregade in Køge. The area on the shores of Køge River inspired Andersen to write the fairy tale "Under the Willow Tree".
