Hedeland is a large natural recreational area with a distinctive, interesting landscape.

The area provides a link between history, the present and the past. Ice Age deposits of stone, gravel and sand formed the basis for more than 100 years of gravel digging and completely changed the appearance of the original flat moraine plain.
Hedeland holds a large number of exciting and characteristic features, including a 50 metre high skiing hill at 80 metres above sea level, wine terraces with about 3,000 vines and an amphitheatre that is one of Hedeland’s major attractions. Tickets for the annual opera at the amphitheatre are available at BILLETnet .
Flora og faunaGravel digging in the past has provided the basis for an interesting flora and fauna in the area. Here are more than 350 species of wild plants, including six unconditionally preserved species of orchids. The many wild flowers also contribute to attracting several species of butterflies.
Rich birdlifeMany species of birds, non-migratory as well as migratory, use Hedeland as their foraging and breeding place. The lakes and canals of Hedeland hold a large population of aquatic insects, amphibians and species of fish, and on the lake shores you can watch terns and oyster catchers in addition to a large number of waders and ducks.
