Mosede Fort Strandpark

Mosede Fort Beach Park is a recreational area holding great experiences in store for visitors.

Mosede Fort
Mosede Fort Beach Park is a conservation area with a beautiful scenery and beach.

The splendid, wide sandy beach is made for beach activities, and the very shallow water is ideal for children. A bathing jetty is installed every summer, making it possible to reach greater depths.

On the coast stands Mosede Fort, a former fortification. The building was commenced in 1913 and was finished and operational in 1916 – during World War I. The battery was constructed as an anti invasion battery, because the water at Mosede (Køge Bay) was so deep close inshore that even large ships could land their troops.

Mosede FortMosede Fort was equipped with the most up to date artillery. It had its own power station, water supply and central heating, kitchen, bath etc. plus bomb proof rooms for its 150 man crew.

Practically all fort constructions have been preserved. The most conspicuous are the six plinths for the howitzers, the main armament of the fort. In the casemate you can also still see the ammunition lifts used to bring ammunition up to the artillery.
