Køge is noted for being a good and cosy market town with well organized commercial facilities and shops to suit any taste.
You will find a wide variety of specialist shops round the Market Square, Køge Torv, and in the adjoining streets. In addition, several shops are hidden behind the house fronts of the old town centre.
Best shopping town in Denmark
In 2010, Køge was selected “The best shopping town in Denmark” in a competition against 23 other towns.
This was not the first time for Køge to obtain a prize. In 2008 Køge was selected "The third best shopping town in Denmark", and in 2006 Køge was ”The cosiest shopping town in Denmark”.
Køge is the largest shopping town of the Køge Bay region. Shopping facilities are well organized with all kinds of shops.
Market trade
Throughout the year, every Wednesday and Saturday are market days in the Market Square, Køge Torv. On sale here are fresh fruit and vegetables, flowers, cheese, fish and sausages, olives and honey besides crafts, jewellery and a lot more. Come to the Market Square for a good bargain!

Waves is the largest roofed shopping centre of the Køge Bay region. Waves is also one of the most modern shopping centres in Denmark, and its car park offers free parking for 3,200 cars.
