Allindelille Fredskov (forest)

Allindelille Fredskov is located 5 km northwest of Ringsted and was established in 1561. The protected part of the forest is approximately 65 hectares.

The forest is botanically interesting because the lime lies high under the soil, so lime-loving plants have an easier time establishing themselves.

It is a small, fine forest that opens up to forest visitors who visit Allindelille. The forest can rightly be called a natural gem. There are large beeches, gurgling streams, forest lakes and many exciting plants. The rarest is the Fly Flower orchid, but there are also other orchids such as the Humpbacked Lip and all three forest lilies.

In Allindelille Peace Forest it is forbidden to pick flowers from the forest floor! In 1561, Frederik II gave the forest to the University of Copenhagen, which also received the 10 farms and fields that were to serve as “students’ livelihoods” – i.e. necessities.

The university took good care of the forest until it was put up for sale in 2011. The Danish Nature Conservation Association has bought the forest and transferred it to the Danish Nature Foundation.
