Skjoldenæsholm Castle – hotel and conference center

Skjoldenæsholm Castle – a heritage hotel in the Heart of Zealand

At the highest point of Zealand, surrounded by peaceful forests and gentle hills, you will find Skjoldenæsholm Castle – an extraordinary gem located at Skjoldenæsvej 106, 4174 Jystrup Midtsjælland.

The castle is beautifully situated by the shores of Lake Gårdsøen, whose waters are suitable for bathing, and offers a unique combination of historic charm and scenic tranquillity.

With roots dating back to the Middle Ages and a main building in elegant neoclassical style from 1766, Skjoldenæsholm Castle has been owned by the Bruun de Neergaard family since 1794. Today, the 8th generation of the family, Niels Bruun de Neergaard, together with his wife Dorothea and their four children, runs the estate with great respect for tradition and an eye for modern comfort.

Since the 1970s, the castle has evolved into an exclusive, family-owned hotel and conference center, where historic atmosphere blends seamlessly with contemporary facilities. The castle offers 40 individually decorated rooms with private bathrooms, atmospheric meeting rooms, and cozy lounges where guests can enjoy peace and personal service. The castle’s professional chefs create culinary experiences using carefully selected local ingredients that turn every meal into a true taste experience.

Just a few steps from the castle you will find the Skjoldenæsholm Tram Museum, and the castle’s own park is open to guests. The surrounding forests, with marked trails, invite peaceful walks and encounters with nature – a perfect haven in the heart of Denmark’s historic landscape.
